Women To Women

On February 12th and 13th Flagler A. A. performed a community public information service at the Home Show and Service Fair. The A.A. booth was located among other public service, health, and spiritual groups represented at the Service Fair. Many people picked up "Where and Whens" and brochures.

The A.A. booth was next to the Flagler Beach Museum booth. The man in charge was talking to everyone who walked by and asked why we were not doing the same. I explained that we were not promoting A.A. and that we were only giving out pamphlets to those people who stopped by and asked for information.

My thanks go out to Jerry K. for his organization and leadership, and to all those that volunteered their time to tend the booth.

PROMISE

“Our whole attitude and outlook on life will change”

When I came into A.A. I was at a low point in my life, and had little left to believe in, especially myself.

By the example of those around me that
lived the A.A. commitments, the 12 Steps, the 12 Traditions, came to meetings, did service work, got a sponser, and "Walked the Walk, as well as "Talked the Talk" I came to believe that there was that most elusive thing, HOPE, for a changed and rewarding life. I even believed that it was possible for me to have that life.

At first I just listened, watched others and learned. I learned from those with many sober years and I learned from those just attempting to turn their lives around. I also learned that I was being given a great gift, a gift of the possibility regaining self-respect.

The self-respect began when I learned respect for those that came before me, and for the program of A.A. that I learned had helped so many people throughout the world.

Now, I am learning to watch as the promises unfold for me and for others. I am also learning the great joy of watching as people share their lives, challenges, achievements, hopes, happiness and even their sadness.

I have learned to believe life that is full of wonderful things and that all I have to do is to stay sober, come to meetings and keep learning, growing and most of all appreciating what an amazing gift that I have received.

And for today, I can say that I am happy, and I am proud to be sober and a member of what I consider to be one of the greatest organizations there ever was. A. A.
